Position Description

Marine Engineer

 

Summary

NETSCo is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer with marine background to join its team of professionals.  NETSCo is a growing Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering firm that provides complete ship, tug, and barge designs of all types: from concept through actual construction and is a leader in marine environmental solutions: such as ballast water treatment systems, exhaust gas scrubbers, and the use of alternative fuels, (LNG, CNG) among others.

 

The successful candidate will provide marine systems engineering for new vessel designs, and retrofits of existing vessels.  The successful candidate will also provide support with feasibility studies, construction and retrofit specifications, and development of complex marine systems solutions.

 

NETSCo has offices in Cleveland, OH. And Tampa, FL and this position could reside in either location. This individual will be working closely with a team of experienced naval architects, marine engineers, electrical engineers and marine designers, both as a team and as an individual.

 

Candidate Basic Qualification requirements 

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in mechanical engineering, marine engineering or a relevant engineering field of study.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience; Vessel Owner, shipyard, classification society, engineering consulting.

 

Additional Candidate Qualifications and Competency

  • Experience with Marine Systems design such main propulsion, ballast systems and ballast water treatment, cargo systems, LNG fuel systems, scrubbers, among others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel primarily), and AutoDesk products such as Auto Cad and Inventor.
  • Familiar with Marine Regulations, such as USCG, IMO, and Classification Societies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Short term and short notice travel from time to time.
  • Professional Engineering License or the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License desirable.
