Position Summary:

The Kindergarten/1st Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that fosters academic, social, and spiritual growth in young children. This position requires a strong understanding of early childhood development, effective classroom management techniques, and a commitment to Christian education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instruction:
  • Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Florida benchmarks and standards and school curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on activities, games, technology, and arts & crafts.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages exploration, discovery, and a love of learning.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with special needs.
• Classroom Management:
  • Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior.
  • Supervise student behavior during all school activities.
• Curriculum Development:
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's curriculum.
  • Select and utilize appropriate instructional materials and resources.
  • Integrate technology effectively into the learning process.
• Communication:
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians.
  • Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences.
  • Communicate student progress and concerns to parents and administrators.
• Professional Development:
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Stay current on best practices in early childhood education.
• Faith Integration:
  • Integrate the Christian faith as expressed in Holy Scripture and Luther’s Small Catechism into all aspects of the curriculum 
  • Create opportunities for students to explore their faith and grow in their relationship with God.
  • Lead or participate in daily devotional times and other faith-based activities that are in line with Holy Scripture and Luther’s Small Catechism 
  • Serve as a positive Christian role model for students.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Valid teaching certificate.
