DEPT: Leisure Services – Parks & Rec.
This is beginning level work in the Leisure Services Department’s Parks and Recreation Division. Responsibilities include performing or assisting in a variety of recreational activities in an assigned area. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of the general rules and regulations governing recreational activities.
- Working knowledge of recreational activities, first-aid methods, and safety precautions.
- Ability to learn and apply departmental and City rules and regulations.
- Ability to instruct participants in team sports fundamentals or specialized recreational activities; lead assigned recreational activities.
- Working knowledge of motor-driven equipment operation.
- Ability to operate a transportation van; perform semi skilled manual tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patrons, and the public; exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact; address and resolve minor disciplinary problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, or maneuver materials weighing up to 45 pounds.
Training, Certification, and Experience
- Experience in organized or specialized recreational activities.
- Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements
- Possess (or ability to obtain within six months of employment) Multi-Media First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certifications.
- Minimum age, 16 years.
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
