# Teaching Mentor & Apprentice Internship

## Position Overview
The Voice Up Program is seeking passionate individuals to join our Teaching Mentor & Apprentice Internship program. This unique opportunity allows interns to help students discover and connect with their purpose while becoming immersed in the Voice Up Theory for Learning—an innovative educational framework currently being incubated with multiple community and school partners worldwide.

## About Voice Up
Voice Up has expanded to many cities, demonstrating the powerful impact of purpose-centered learning. Our theory is built on the belief that people learn most effectively when their learning directly connects to their purpose, and that each person possesses unique talents and abilities that, when developed in connection with a clear purpose, can create meaningful impact in communities and the world.

## Internship Focus
In this role, interns will select one of three tracks, choosing to mentor either middle school students, high school students, or college freshmen. Each intern will focus specifically on helping their selected age group connect to their purpose. Through guided application of the Voice Up Theory's four-step process, mentors will help students:
- Discover their evolving purpose
- Find their passions and connect them to helping others
- Develop effective communication skills
- Navigate their growth journey with proper support

## Internship Tracks
Interns will select one of the following three tracks:

### Middle School Track
Working with middle school students (ages 11-14) with focus on:
- Early exploration of purpose and identity formation
- Creating safe spaces where students can overcome social anxiety and build confidence
- Introducing the concept of purpose as a foundation for positive mental health
- Helping students connect emerging interests to meaningful activities
- Supporting emotional regulation through purpose-driven activities
- Fostering inclusion and belonging within peer groups
- Reducing behavioral issues by channeling energy toward purposeful goals
- Building resilience during this critical developmental period

### High School Track
Working with high school students (ages 14-18) with focus on:
- Deepening purpose exploration as it relates to future aspirations
- Addressing academic pressure and stress through purpose-centered perspective
- Developing stronger self-awareness and emotional intelligence
- Connecting personal values to educational and extracurricular choices
- Creating peer support communities that reduce isolation and anxiety
- Enhancing decision-making skills through purpose-driven frameworks
- Building confidence in authentic self-expression
- Preventing risk behaviors by strengthening purpose connections

### College Freshman Track
Working with college freshmen (ages 18-20) with focus on:
- Navigating the transition to higher education through purpose alignment
- Addressing independence challenges with purpose-centered grounding
- Connecting academic choices to broader life purpose
- Building new supportive communities during significant life transitions
- Reducing anxiety, depression, and loneliness through purpose connections
- Developing healthy coping strategies rooted in personal purpose
- Strengthening identity during this transformative period
- Fostering resilience when facing academic and social challenges

## Responsibilities
- Facilitate small group mentoring sessions twice weekly with your selected age group
- Guide students through the Voice Up methodology within safe, supportive environments
- Help students identify their unique purpose and passions appropriate to their developmental stage
- Support students in developing communication skills
- Create psychologically safe spaces where students can authentically share
- Participate in online community gatherings
- Collaborate with other mentors and program leaders
- Help students design and implement social impact projects (minimum 3-month duration)
- Document student growth, mental health improvements, and program outcomes

## Qualifications
- Strong commitment to the Voice Up core principles: collaboration, humility, precision, patience, and empathy
- Interest in purpose-driven education and mentorship
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to connect with students across different age groups
- Willingness to learn and apply the Voice Up Theory
- Creativity and problem-solving abilities
- Reliability and strong time management skills

## Compensation Options
This internship can be structured as:
- Academic credit
- Volunteer position
- Potential stipend (based on qualifications and program funding)
