We are currently looking for a new medical assistant to join the team at one of our Florida practices, Academic Alliance in Dermatology (www.academicallderm.com). Medical Assistant – Dermatology
Full-Time | Hands-On Clinical Experience | Great Opportunity for Pre-Med/Pre-PA Students

Join our fast-paced dermatology practice and work directly alongside our providers to support patient care. This is a great opportunity for recent grads or those taking a gap year before PA or medical school who want hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and confirm identifying information (name/DOB)
  • Take and record vital signs accurately
  • Assist with patient flow and keep the day running smoothly
  • Set up trays, instruments, and procedure rooms for biopsies, excisions, and other in-office procedures
  • Inject local anesthetic under provider supervision
  • Handle specimens and ensure they’re sent to the appropriate lab based on the patient’s insurance
  • Review wound care and post-procedure instructions with patients
  • Answer patient questions in person and by phone as directed
  • Sterilize and calibrate instruments, track maintenance logs
  • Maintain stock of medications and supplies, discard expired items
  • Restock exam rooms and maintain infection control protocols
  • Check and respond to nurse line tasks, messages, faxes, and internal notes
  • Accurately document patient interactions and provider instructions in the EMR
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines at all times
  • Support the team with other clinical and administrative tasks as needed

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician’s assistant track preferred.
  • CPR certified preferred.
  • 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience (preferred)
  • Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time 
  • Moderate amount of talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing. 
  • Use of hands and fingers. 
  • Talking and listening in person and on the telephone. 
  • Handling of materials such as paper, supplies, etc. 
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds. 
  • Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.
